The Hexapsalm 2015 particle board, oil pastel 1895Х295

Scene of the worship service reminds of the child’s impressions from the unusual activity and from belonging to the heavenly world. During the Hexapsalm, when only one candle burns, an altar server reads the Psalm: “be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit”. A child, who cannot understand all the details of the worship service, imagines a gloomy mysterious landscape — a pit and the people (neighbouring worshippers) slowly descending into it. In the middle, we can see the figure of the artist himself reflecting whether he should follow their example.
